He came from a location listed as Hamberg. The census data shows the country initially as France which was crossed out and replaced by Prussia. His wife, Elizabeth was born at Hostenbach. Son Oscar became a naturalized citizen on October 4, 1884. That certificate lists him as coming to the US in 1873. He was eleven years old at the time. Frank [Franz] and Edward [Eduard] were the first family members to come to the U.S. in 1871 on the ship Koeln sailing from Bremen to New York. The remaining family members arrived in 1873 saling on the Holland from Havre to New York. |
